What Do You Expect From a Beggar You Say No To
I mean, I had seen beggars making faces or even hurling abuses after my rejection to their requests. But someone greeting me 'have a good evening' was amazing, especially if he was really begging for food!
So, one quirky observation today at Geneva Railway Station pleasantly shocked me.
We had late-night snacks at the station.
After our guilty pleasure trip, I was walking back to the parking area when a 'beggar' approached me asking for 5 francs to eat.
He looked disheveled, so I figured most probably he was asking for money to get high.
So, I said no.
Do you know what happened next? I mean, what he said next? Just take a wild guess.
I was reluctant to say no at first due to various reasons, including his (over)reaction.
But to my utter surprise, he replied to my decline:
"It's ok, have a good evening," (he said in French)

Can I say people in general are more civilized here?
