How Low Can You go to Become The Greatest of All Time

Being an ardent tennis fan and following the space for more than a decade now, I recently came across the Djokovic fiasco regarding the Australian Open 2022, a month ago. This got me thinking about greatness and what it takes to be the greatest of all time, G.O.A.T, if there is such a thing.

This man doesn't believe in Covid nor in the efficacy of the vaccines. He organized the Adria tour in the midst of the pandemic in June 2020. It soon became a mess when he along with dozens of players and visitors were found Covid-positive.

And now when it is well-known that only those players and staff who are vaccinated will be allowed to participate in the Australian Open, he wanted an exemption!

Moreover, he was seen openly flouting Covid norms and hugging children despite knowing that he is Covid-positive.

He tried everything under the sun to get an exemption so that he could defend his title at Oz open and become the ‘greatest’ of all time in the sport.

How low can you go in order to become the greatest of all time?

Are you ready to hurt yourself? Yes
Are you ready to endure pain? Yes
Are you ready to compromise and sacrifice many things? Yes

But, will you go so far as to put other people in danger in your mad quest to be the greatest of all time?
Djokovic replied YES!

I mean what is the point in being the GREATEST then?

Suppose you do achieve what you have been aspiring for, maybe 31 Grand Slams or 31 Olympic Medals, so on and so forth. But, in the process, you killed two people. Will your achievements still make you the greatest of all time?

NO!

One such blemish will tarnish your lifelong reputation or facade of a good human being.

Greatness need not be explicitly or deliberately sought for, it comes naturally to you, on its own accord. You just keep doing what you are good at consistently, patiently, perseveringly.

Life will give you plenty of chances to prove your mettle, to show that you are the greatest. And just in case life give you lemons in place of trophies, accept it, accept that it was meant to be that way.

But I know, it’s easier said than done. It’s easier to be a hypocrite guru than an obedient and sincere disciple. But people who hold such influence over their followers should lead by example and not by deceit.
