Linkin Park Music is Too Soft For Some
The first band I started listening to in 12th grade.
The album was Collision Course, a collab between LP & Jay-Z. The songs were not (that) heavy. But they were heavy enough for my parents to shut all the room doors. And I’d be inside studying and solving math problems (I found it easier to solve math with music on).
A few months later, something extraordinary happened. My best friend from school got a broadband connection at home. Then the Pandora’s box opened!
I looked up all about Linkin Park and other metal & rock bands online.
Then the downloads began!
I remember getting speeds of 50-100 Kbps. An album would download in 3-5 hours (depending on seeders 😄).
I’d download around ten albums at a time and burn them on a CD! (At that time, my phone only had 12 MB of space :)
One CD meant I’m good for a month.
Gradually, rock music grew on me.
Now back to the headline
Today, a friend sent me the Hellfest 2025 lineup, and Linkin Park was on it!
I hadn't heard the other bands' names on the list, apart from Muse (I'm a baby fan).
He added me to the WA group with three of his friends.
They were upset with the lineup. Two said they won't go to the stage where LP, Muse, and Korn are playing.
Why?
Because they’re too soft!
You don't believe me?
I have the screenshot.
Listen to a few songs from LP & Korn and decide for yourself.
(Or maybe they had only listened to a few popular songs and made up their minds in haste).
Takeaway
I don't think Einstein's special or general relativity explained relativity as well as this chat did.
Everything is relative!
My parents would give me iPhones if I stopped listening to Linkin Park at home because it's too loud for them.
And for some people in their 60s and 70s who are still metalheads at heart, LP music is too soft and they only enjoy death and heavy metal.
And that music is just noise to my ears, like LP is to some.
Everything is relative.
