Do You Think Birds Have a Purpose in Life?
But some birds who are stuck in a comfortable and convenient cage think that flying is an illness (“Birds born in a cage think flying is an illness.” ― Alejandro Jodorowsky).
I read one book called Jonathon Livingston Seagull some five years ago as it was recommended by Rahul Dravid (one of my all-time fav sportspersons!).
If I could tell you the gist of the book or what stuck with me the most was this line:
I just want to know how high I can go!
A seagull was saying that to his parents when they showed their 'valid concerns' for his survival and wellbeing. They would say to him:
You will die of hunger, you should flock with 'other seagulls' otherwise you will be alienated. And we care for you....
But Jonathon wouldn't listen to them. He will simply try different aerobatics and swings and manoeuvers in the sky, experimenting with the help of his wings on which he trusted so much.
It felt like he had no other purpose in life but just 'birding' or 'seagulling'. And be the best at it!
The same thing I felt when I shot this video of a bird flying a few days ago. Enjoy this feast (for your eyes only!):
But some birds who are stuck in a comfortable and convenient cage think that flying is an illness (“Birds born in a cage think flying is an illness.” ― Alejandro Jodorowsky).
So, these birds who don't fly themselves disapprove of other birds who are courageous enough to fly alone.
But I wish to tell those lone birds to not be afraid of anyone because flying is your birthright and no one can steal it from you.
Keep flying, keep experimenting, keep exploring.
Do you feel like breaking your mould?
Do you feel like flying free? But free from what? Society? or your own Self?
